Building Commissioning

ASHRAE defines building commissioning as "a quality-oriented process for achieving, verifying, and documenting that the performance of facilities, systems, and assemblies meets defined objectives and criteria".

Commissioning is a key element of any sustainable building strategy. Commissioning basically translates and incorporates sustainable design components into a fully functional and operational building.

None-commissioned buildings generally fail to achieve their full potential and often result in wasted energy, money, time, and environmental resources. DEI helps its clients avoid this waste by first documenting their building requirements, operational objectives, intended use, system performance goals – and then verifying that these objectives are met throughout the design, construction, acceptance, occupancy, and post occupancy phases.

Enhanced Building Commissioning generally begins during the project planning phase and continues through construction, acceptance, and warranty period of the project. DEI’s commissioning process ensures that the owner’s requirements are clearly documented and met throughout the project delivery process. Our goal is to achieve a fully operational, efficient, and functional building. Proper commissioning ensures that minimum energy amounts are used for maximum indoor comfort.

Our Commissioning process basically evaluates the following criteria for each installed system:

  • Equipment is the right size for purpose and use
  • Equipment is installed correctly
  • Equipment is calibrated for optimal performance
  • Equipment Controls Function as intended
